ASCENSION SERVICE  St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church is hosting an area WELS Ascension Service on Thursday, May 30 at 7 PM.  Pastor Klatt will be preaching and Professor Johnathan Roux from MLC is the guest organist.  The offering will go toward WELS World Mission efforts in Liberia.  Snacks will follow the service. Contact Pastor Lindner at 612.379.4296 with any questions.  The church is located at 610 Broadway St, NE in Minneapolis.
 
ART-A-WHIRL  We will be hosting artist again this on Saturday, May 18th from 12:00-8:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 12:00-5:00 p.m. 
A special guest this year will be a musical group called “The Lutheran Ceili Orchestra”. They will have a concert on Saturday, May 18th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and then will accompany our worship service on Sunday at 10:00 a.m. We will also be hosting a number of other WELS artists. CHURCH AND MINISTRY SEMINAR  Saturday, June 22, 9 am – 4pm.  Dr. Paul Steinberg, Executive Director Chaplains in Schools, Inc. from Milwaukee, WI will be at Christ the Lord Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cottage Grove to present a CAP seminar on the topic of Church and Her Ministry. The cost is $10 per person, which covers the course materials and the congregation is providing a free will offering lunch. It is not necessary to be involved in CAP to attend this seminar but for students currently enrolled, this would be a perfect opportunity for them to complete this course in just one day! Registration deadline is Tuesday June 18th. There is a poster on the bulletin board and some flyers in the magazine rack. For more information, contact Rachel Barkow 651.353.3857.

NEW LIFE MINISTRIES MOTHER’S DAY GIFT CARDS  Today, after church, Narthex.  We will have a table set up in the Narthex where you can show your support and Christian love for new moms across the Twin Cities by choosing a donation amount off the wish tree.  SIC will use the funds raised to purchase Scrip gift cards and deliver them to the New Life Ministries office in Minneapolis.
 
CONFIRMATION AND EXAMINATION   Sunday, May 19.  This year confirmation and examination will be on the same day. During the education hour at 9 AM we will have examination then at our worship service we will have confirmation. All are invited to attend! 
MARTIN LUTHER COLLEGE PARTNER GRANT DOOR OFFERING  Two Holy Trinity members are currently attending Martin Luther College (MLC), our WELS college of ministry located in New Ulm, MN.  Hannah Stegman is in her junior year and Samantha Paul in her freshman year of training to share God’s word with students in WELS classrooms.  To help offset some of the cost of tuition for students training for ministry, MLC has established the Congregational Partner Grant Program.  This program will match up to $1,000 donated by Holy Trinity members for each our students attending MLC.  Our financial support of their education is a great way for us to encourage these young women in their training for ministry.  This Sunday and next a door offering will be gathered for Hannah and Samantha.  May our risen Savior continue to bless their path toward the teaching ministry!

ART-A-WHIRL  St. John’s is located near an Art District where over 500 artist will have their works on display and they are hosting five WELS/ELS artists.  There will be music from the Lutheran Ceili Orchestra and organist Harrison Lawrence.  For more information on the event can be found at www.stjohnsmplswels.org.
 
LUTHERAN CEILI ORCHESTRA CONCERT  Saturday, May 18 at 6 PM and Sunday Service at 10 AM.  Harrison Lawrence will be giving an organ demonstration at 2 PM on Sunday.  On Saturday, there will also be tours of the 100+ year old building and a children’s craft table.  There is free trolley service at the Art-A-Whirl with a stop very close to the building.  The building will be open Saturday 12 – 8 PM and Sunday 12 – 5 PM.  A free-will offering for the orchestra will be available.  For more information, call 612.379.4296 or check the website www.stjohnsmplswels.org.

WEST LUTHERAN HIGH SCHOOL ANNUAL GALA  The gala is fast approaching!  Saturday, April 27th is the date at the lovely Crowne Plaza in Plymouth.  Check- in begins at 4:30 with dinner at 6:30 and live auction/fund-a-need at 8:00.  Please go to our website at www.wlhs.net to purchase tickets and browse a partial list of auction items and sign ups.  Moonlight masquerade is this year's theme and masks will be sold throughout the event.  There will once again be fun games and special drinks for purchase.  Please support this important event which is the biggest fundraiser of the year for West Lutheran High School.

APRIL 14TH GROUND BREAKING  Following the worship service today, there will be a new expansion ground breaking ceremony during coffee hour.  It will take place in front of the current child care entrance.  All members are invited to attend to celebrate the grace of God which has provided the desire and means for us to expand our gospel ministry to Share Jesus Christ with All Ages and Nations.
 
EASTER SUNDAY BREAKFAST  Please see the signup sheet on the entry way bulletin board to sign up for the Easter Breakfast. Check the box if you plan to attend (number of family members).   Also, consider helping with food prep/set up, clean up or if you would like to bring some pastries.

COOKIE DECORATING  Saturday, May 11th, 9am – 11am, Fellowship Hall.  All generations are welcome to join us for a Cookie Decorating event!  We will provide the cookies and frosting, you provide the creativity and willingness to eat cookies or take them home to enjoy on Mother’s Day!  All ages - Moms, Grandmas, Daughters, Granddaughters, Sons, Grandsons, Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, Friends!  Come join us for as long as your schedule allows – you can drop in quick and frost a couple or stay for the entire event!  We would love to see you there - coffee and juice will also be provided.  Please sign up on the sheet in the narthex so we can plan accordingly.
NEW LIFE MINISTRIES MOTHER’S DAY GIFT CARDS  Sunday, May 5th  &Sunday, May 12th, Before/After church, Narthex.  We will have a table set up in the Narthex where you can show  your support and Christian love for new moms across the Twin Cities by choosing a donation amount off the wish tree.  SIC will use the funds raised to purchase Scrip gift cards and deliver them to the New Life Ministries office in Minneapolis.
 
JOB PRESENTATION  Our 1st & 2nd graders are studying a new unit about different types jobs in the community & how they help the it run smoothly. What better way to show this objective than to have members of the congregation come and talk to the class about what they do. Here is what you need to know: - Provide a short presentation on what your job is, what you do in your job, how does it help the community and why you chose your job - Be prepared for answering questions (or listening to very long stories) - come in your uniform (if you have one) - bring items from your workplace to show - show photos of your job or you in action (I can hook you up to the tv)  Dates/times through April on Mon & Tues from 2:00-2:30. Retirees also welcome!
