TEACHER/DIRECTOR...................................Mrs. Cindy Klatt

ASSISTANT..............................................Mrs. Sandy Thurber

The Shepherd's Lambs Preschool is responsible to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church's Board of Education, which in turn is responsible to the congregation.

Purpose

To assist, not to replace, parents with the God-given commission to make disciples of Jesus Christ through evangelism. To nurture and build up those already claimed by our Lord and to share the saving Gospel message with those children and families who do not yet know their Savior. And to provide a Christ-centered learning environment for preschoolers that they may grow in soul, mind and body.

Health

Your child's health is a matter of importance to us all. When children are ill, please keep them at home; the preschool does not have facilities available for the care and comfort of sick students. If a child becomes sick while at school, the child will be isolated from the other children and the parent or emergency number called immediately.

Hours

The 3-year-old program is for children 3 years of age by October 1st. Classes will be in session from:

Tuesdays and Thursdays 9:00 - 11:30 a.m.
Tuesdays and Thursdays 12:15 - 2:45 p.m.

The 4-5 year old program is for children whose 4th birthday is on or before October 1st. The following options are available for the 4 year old program:

Monday, Wednesday, Friday 9:00 - 11:30 a.m.
Monday, Wednesday, Friday 12:15 - 2:45 p.m.

Class days will coincide with the District 281 school year. Drop off begins at 8:30 a.m. or 12:00 noon. (All students are required to be potty trained.)

The First Day

The first day of school can be a very happy or unhappy experience for your child. By your words and actions on the first day you can help him/her. We suggest you place your child in the hands of the teacher, assure him/her that you will return to get them and then leave promptly. When the child realizes you are not available, he/she will accept the teacher's guidance more readily.

Cost

A non-refundable registration fee of $55.00 is due at the time of registration. This amount is in addition to the monthly tuition. Tuition is $110.00 per month for the 2-day program and $150.00 for the 3-day program, due on the first day of school each month beginning in August. There will be no refunds or credit for absences or for unscheduled cancellations. If payment is not received on or before the due dates, the Shepherd's Lambs Preschool will assume that you have decided to withdraw your child from class and notify someone on the waiting list of an opening. If your child is planning to withdraw from class at the end of the pay period, please notify the teacher two weeks in advance.

Clothing and Personal Belongings

Please dress your child in comfortable play clothes and shoes, which they can manage themselves. Clothing should be durable and washable. Please encourage your child to leave purses, money, candy and toys at home so they will not be misplaced or forgotten.

Snacks

Each day there will be a snack time. Parents will be responsible for their own children's snacks. The school will provide juice and water. Parents are encouraged to send nutritious snacks such as: granola bars, fruit, vegetables, crackers with peanut butter or cheese, raisins, etc.

Communication with Parents

Open communication between the parents and teacher is vital. Each week a newsletter will be sent home with each child. The newsletter will include news about the week's activities or special events. Please feel free to discuss any concerns about your child with the teacher. Parents-teacher conferences will be offered to parents who so desire. Please feel free to stop in to visit the class at any time.

Severe Weather Acknowledgement

During the year, if severe weather occurs, The Shepherd's Lambs Preschool will be closed. Parents will be notified by phone of any closings. If the Robbinsdale Public Schools (District 281) are closed, the Preschool will also be closed. If there is an early closing, all parents will be notified to take their children home as soon as possible.

Discipline

Children will be dealt with constructively at all times. The teacher will use love, encouragement and praise, with an emphasis on desirable characteristics.

Student Dismissal

  1. Discipline and Behavior: Students shall exhibit proper Christian behavior as per instructor guidelines.
  2. Financial: Parents shall meet their financial responsibilities in a timely manner as noted above.

Should either of the above guidelines be violated, student dismissal procedures may be initiated.

Notice of Nondiscriminatory Policy as to Students

Shepherd’s Lambs Preschool admits students of any race, color national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic and other school-administered programs.
